Santa Clara Valley

These early Twentieth Century postcards show Santa Clara Valley when it was called the Valley of Hearts Delight. In the 1950′s, orchards still outnumbered malls and parking lots.

Flowering fruit trees blanket the valley floor in this stylized view from west to east. Mount Hamilton’s peak looms in the distance.

Prunes and apricots dried in the sun on wooden flats that seemed to spread for miles.

Rows of trees blossoming pink and white filled the valley each Spring with a sweet perfume.
